Folks...We have now sold out THREE hotels near the convention center and just opened a block at a fourth. We have 25 rooms available at the Staybridge Suites, which is directly across the street from the convention center. In fact, other than having to go outside and cross the street, your room will be closer to the convention action than a room at the Marriott. The rates are a little higher than the other hotels, but you can cram more guys into a room there (each one has a queen sized pull out for instance) and breakfast is included. The rates are $154 for a "studio" and $164 for a "double suite", and parking is $9 per day. If you contact me before May 1st, I can get your reservation transferred into our block. If your room rate is higher than the convention rates, the hotel will honor the convention rate; and if your current rate is lower, the hotel will honor your current rate. But in either case, if I can get your reservation moved into our block by May 1st, the convention will get credit for the room nights, which is really important. Has anyone successfully ordered from Dmold Modelworks (dmoldmodelworks.com)? Dmitri shows 3 parts I'd like to order but, every time I check the website (which is every few days), they're out of stock. He is responsive to emails but, won't take a pre-order and can't or won't tell me when the parts I'm after will be available.
The vehicle: In December of 1941 the US Government put all manufacturing on a wartime footing. Many of the factories which had been producing civilian cars went over to producing Jeeps, pickups, cargo trucks, ammo carriers, tanks, guns, and other wartime necessities. There were still a few assembly lines which continued to produce a few cars, and most of these were sold to the Army or Navy for use as "staff cars". Because it wouldn't do for someone as important as an Admiral or General to ride around in a canvas topped jeep. If you are looking for a rather unique kit to add to your late-WWII collection of 1/72 scale Axis aircraft, Brengun has come through with a trainer variant of the Ohka rocket plane. The relatively small parts count makes this a quick build, but some experience with small photoetched parts will be beneficial. Modelers with some experience with small parts and working with plastic to improve the fit of parts will enjoy this build. Built by Dai-Ichi Kaigun Koku Gijitsusho, 45 of the K1 version of the Ohka (Cherry Blossom) were built to train the future Kamikaze pilots of the rocket-powered plane. A forward tank was loaded with water to simulate the warhead weight on the combat aircraft, which was then dumped before landing. I was going through sorting photos last night and realized that over the last 20 years or so, I have done some pretty weird models. I've done my fair share of "normal" models as well, but here are some of the strangers ones for your enjoyment.
Here’s an original that I stripped and rebuilt as best I could, then re-painted.
This was a fun one. Used some various parts and stock styrene rods to make the connections of the heads.
If you have ever been interested in 3D printing, then this printer will get you started. 3D printers take a plastic filament material and melt it into an extruding nozzle, then ejected on to a moving build plate forms an object, so as the material cools it hardens. 3D printers can use several materials to melt plastic and create objects of different plastic type materials. I have no experience with 3D printing but have always been intrigued about the idea. I have experienced times when a special tool or part would be good to have, but there is nothing available. Now if I think about the part I can design it and at the same time learn a new skill of 3D printing. I will be honest and say the kicker for designing a part was the last time I knocked over my Tamiya cement bottle and said to myself, I wish there was something I could put the bottle in to keep from tipping it over. Introduction The second volume of Panther Project follows the Restoration process of the Engine and Turret process along with its connected systems, information on Zimmerit. Some very nice Hull walk around along with interior photos, there are 440 photographs that make up this book along with some nice technical drawings of components. Contents Before they dive in on the restoration there are several pages on the History of the Panther tank along with the usual introduction. The rest of the book is broken up by each year on restoration 2007 2009 2013 2017 and 2018 and at the back are some references and technical drawings for the restoration process. Each chapter is broken up by what job is being done and gives the page numbers for easy reference. Messerschmitt developed the Bf-109T, based on the Bf-109E series, for operations from the aircraft carrier Graf Zeppelin", when it was being developed and built in the late thirties. Although the ship was launched in 1938, the carrier, which was to have had a capacity of 40 aircraft, was never completed. A second carrier, the Peter Strasser, was started but never launched. It was scrapped in 1940. The Graf Zeppelin was retained, and work resumed briefly in 1942, but eventually, it was stopped in 1943. Specialized folding wing JU-87B's and Bf-109T's were developed for these ships. The Bf-109T-0 prototype was followed by ten pre-production Bf-109T-1's, converted from E-3's. These had extended, manually folding wings and carrier tailhooks, catapult spools, and tailwheel locking devices. A unit, JG 186, was formed for their evaluation, but the project was shelved. Sixty Bf-109T-1's had been ordered from Fieseler, and after on-again-off-again development, Fieseler was eventually instructed to complete all of the T-1's as land-based aircraft without the carrier equipment, under the designation Bf-109T-2. read more View the full article

Longtime readers of IPMS/USA reviews will know that I tend to prefer the tiny stuff. So it shouldn't come as too big a surprise that when Brengun released some accessory items for those of us that build in a diminutive scale (1:144) that I put in my bid for this kit review. 'Kit Review' may be too strong a phrase as these small German Staff Cars 3D printed, in resin, and come as one piece. The only assembly of the actual car is to remove it from the casting block. I have a bookmark to a website (www.airwolf.tv) that had an Airwolf "technical/flight manual," but that site seems to have gone to 404Land. Might any IPMSers have saved said document? I'm also looking for a copy of the studio plans of the aircraft, but all I've found online have been low-resolution partial copies. Anybody got the real deal?

I have 7 kits I'll probably never get around to that I'd like to sell. Two questions. Is it ok to list them for sale here on the forum? If not, can somebody recommend a website (other than ebay) or other option? The main problem is that they're no longer in the box and most of them have lots of add-ons from Eduard, Wolfpack Design, or other resin companies.
G' day- I have a Tamiya Mk.3 tank that I understand the Swedish army used at one time. It was called the Stridsvagn 81. I was wondering if anyone has information on the color and/or color scheme. I thought it could be the same color as a British Mk. 3, but I thought I saw something that they had a splinter type camouflage pattern. I tried the IPMS Sweden forum, but it's all in Swedish (go figure!). I have another British scheme that I may use if this doesn't work out. Thanks for any information. Joe Vattilana
